Regular stair climber · 25 min
StairMaster intervals
Alternate a brisk climb with easy stepping recovery.
- You can already climb steadily for 10 minutes
- One harder session a week
Not the right fit if new to the stair machine. Start with the steady climb.
The session
- Warm-up
- Check the stop control, mount using the rails and climb easily for 5 minutes. Use this variation after you can control a steady climbing session.
- Main set
- 5 rounds: climb briskly for 1 minute, then lower the step rate for 2 minutes of easy recovery. Keep both phases controlled and step normally; brisk does not mean maximal speed.
- Cool-down
- Climb gently for 5 minutes. Stop the staircase fully before getting off.
Start with one interval session per week. Put it away from another hard cardio session or demanding leg day. Lower the level or end the intervals when footing or posture becomes inconsistent.
