StairMaster steady climb
Controlled stair climbing at an easy-to-moderate effort.
- Steady climbing at a talking pace
- A short, demanding cardio session
Not the right fit if leaning hard on the rails to keep up. Lower the level.
The session
- Warm-up
- Locate the speed and stop controls. Hold the handrails to mount according to the machine placard. Start at a low step rate and climb gently for 5 minutes.
- Main set
- Climb steadily for 10 minutes, using a level where you can place each foot securely and speak in sentences. Stand upright, look ahead and take normal forward steps. Reduce the level if you need to lean heavily on the rails.
- Cool-down
- Reduce to an easy level for 3–5 minutes, then stop the steps completely before dismounting with handrail support.
Start with a shorter session if continuous climbing is unfamiliar. Levels vary between machines; choose by control and effort rather than copying someone else’s level. Do not skip steps, turn sideways or climb backward.
